‘Rome Was Not Built in a Day’
It is indeed a blessing to be raised by parents who have a reverent fear of Jehovah as the ONE TRUE and living God; particularly our mothers and grandmothers who became the de facto spiritual leaders in many households, courtesy of slavery that has relegated an overwhelming majority of black men as being deemed valuable only for their sexual prowess.
It is a historical fact that slaves were married at a higher rate than free blacks are today and many had risked their lives to learn Kingdom Principles by reading the Holy Bible; which is a privilege that many of us descendants as supposedly free men and women today deem irrelevant to our daily lives.
A fundamental principle taught repeated throughout Holy Bible scriptures is the farming culture of sowing and reaping; whereby only fools today are ignorant to the fact that we shall ALL reap what we sow, more than we sow, later than we sow.
Jehovah is a God of order, structure and due process, Who is seldom in the business of OVERNIGHT SUCCESS; as truth be told it takes time to develop the character without which individuals are doomed to self-destruction and being somewhat of nuisances to others in the process.
It is this lack of respect for traditional values and attitudes which is rooted in Kingdom Principles teachings of the Holy Bible; that has manifested EVERYTHING that ails modern societies in general and Jamaica in particular today.
“Bhuttu-i-za-tion” is a term coined by the late Professor Rex Nettleford to describe the Jamaican iteration of nouveau riche as being people who have recently acquired wealth; typically, those perceived as ostentatious but lacking in traditionally accepted good taste whilst seemingly having a raison d’etre for being anti-establishment about EVERYTHING.
The political culture in Jamaica has been complicit with the “Bhuttu-i-za-tion” of the country contributing significantly to the wholesale erosion of traditional values and attitudes, which has resulted in persons who would normally have been socially ostracized being empowered to feel comfortable to buck every system that was established to prevent anarchy in civilized societies.
“Rome was not built in a day” was one of my mother’s favourite expressions that served to encourage me to keep my head down, work diligently and focus long-term, which cuts against the grain of popular culture where NOTHING is off limits in furtherance of individual self-interest to acquire wealth overnight anyway possible.
Jamaica once considered to be a Christian nation is today more of a moral cesspool that is overrun by “bhuttus” wherein if law enforcement was to seriously pursue unexplained wealth consistent with justice and fairness; over 80% of persons would either be in prison or have their assets confiscated by the authorities.
It continues to be a personal disappointment for me to hear so-called morally upright and intelligent persons who ought to know better lamenting about symptoms of the real problem; whilst ignoring or giving tacit approval to the behaviours that are the real cause of the manifested symptoms owing to the betrayal of Jehovah’s Kingdom Principles.
The current trend in Jamaica makes a mockery of the need for education and EVERYTHING ELSE my generation and those before us; were taught as being of UTMOST IMPORTANCE to build and sustain any civilized society.
Jamaica has become a place where literally the only fundamental difference between us as humans and animals resides in our ability to own, occupy and drive houses and cars respectively; where many default to ascribing value and self-worth to become purely a matter of economics predicated on things owned irrespective of how acquired.
Until we appreciate that there is ABSOLUTELY NO OPTION to Seeking First the Kingdom of Jehovah and His Righteousness; EVERYTHING we’re pursuing is an exercise in futility and there will be hell to pay, pun intended.
