Best World Cup Goal Ever
Without question, the best world cup goal ever if Van Persie’s header for Netherland’s against Spain in the 2014 World Cup. It’s the best goal for a number of reasons:
1. not many soccer players ever develop the proper technique for heading the football; Van Persie’s execution was flawless:
a) he read the play earlier and reacted long before the defender;
b) while outpacing the defender, he displayed great control in slowing his pace and preparing himself to execute;
c) the heading technique was not only perfect but Van Persie put the ball in a position where the Goal Keeper had absolutely no chance.
2. the match albeit in the early rounds of the World Cup was important as the Netherlands had surrendered to Spain in their March towards taking the 2010 World Cup Title.
3. Van Persie’s goal not not demoralised Spain but set the stage for an emphatic victory and the launch of what at some stages appeared to be a Championship winning campaign for the very talented Dutch side.
Here’s the goal. Every time I see it…it brings out the goose pimples!
