ONLINE VIDEO READY TO GO PUBLIC

Are you familiar with the "video wall"…the "Blinkx video wall" that is? You should be by now. I wrote about them here as well as the 7 million hours of video that the company claims it has already indexed. Well, if this is your first time, take note…you will definitely be hearing more about them in the days and months ahead.

News just on the wires have revealed that the company intends to go public next month. If the news holds true, this would be music to the ears of those who believe that after years of stumbling, 2007 will definitely be the year when online video makes its presence felt.  It would be testament to the amazing success of YouTube and the prospects of the many online video units cropping up all over the Internet. Maybe…just maybe, web TV has now reached a "critical mass" able to sustain an industry that has promised so much.

Blinkx is not saying much about the news; but I am sure the details will be available, one way or another, in the days to come. The irony of this news is that just earlier, I wrote about Richard Rosenblatt. Well, everyone should also know that through Demand Media, the Internet pioneer is seeking to convert more of the extremely exciting domaining pie to gold. Like Blinkx, Rosenblatt is counting on going public with his idea to raise additional funds. I am sure early May will bring more concrete news with the planned re-launch of the Dot-TV brand at AlwaysOn Hollywood show. Stay tuned to Jollyjo!
